considered one of the most powerful tools in providing information to people, our lives today are incomplete without media — it is the breakfast we consume, the snack we binge on and the dopamine fix we take.

while the indian media & journalism universe in its evolved form with social & digital media has seen phenomenal growth in the last few years, the gender gap still pushes women out, giving them an unfair hand. but gone are the days where women continued to cover “soft” content like lifestyle, beauty and fashion — today, they are talking and covering everything from politics, economy, sports and tech, traditionally left to men.

at leap.club, we have 200+ women from the media universe and this number is constantly growing.here are 15 women with loud voices, tackling pushback with their strong opinions and changing the world, one headline, podcast & post, at a time :

a television anchor and storyteller, fascinated by people and human stories, what gives sonal utmost happiness is being able to tell an untold story and to impact people’s lives positively.

02 shephali bhatt — senior assistant editor at mint

with a career trajectory that includes publications like economic times, hindustan times, times of india, shephali is a force to reckon with. she enjoys writing human interest stories on internet culture, subcultures, creator economy, mental health, and media & entertainment.

03 deepali gupta — lead, community and curation at roundglass, ex times internet

youngest author of the prestigious times nightlife guide for 7 years running, deepali has been immersed in the f&b, music, and entertainment industry for almost 15+ years. she is now transitioning to a community lead for a holistic nutrition and wellness company.

04 karuna gulyani — corporate & policy comms lead at netflix

a creative communications professional with deep experience of working across diverse brands, industries and regions, karuna enjoys developing creative strategies that have a business impact. she loves to create meaningful conversations and headlines ;)

an investment banker, strategist turned media entrepreneur. her company currently curates and runs niche tv channels in collaboration with dth operators in india. she writes for various journals, media platforms, and is coming out with a book on entrepreneurial hacks later this year!

currently on a sabbatical, priyanka worked across roles in ndtv including producing special coverage on the 2012 us presidential elections, india’s budget and general elections in 2014. currently working on her french, and cooking up a storm in her kitchen!

a content creator and journalist with a focus on politics, conflict, social justice, and public affairs, iknoor concluded a stint with radio current affairs for bbc world service in london. currently, she is the brand & communications lead at spag, an integrated pr and advocacy firm.
